Carers support groups at The Caring Cafe

The Caring Café is a gathering where people living with dementia, their families and friends can meet for coffee and/or lunch in the company of others in a similar situation, to share experiences and enjoy spending time together. The café runs between 11am and 3.30pm on the first and third Saturdays at Sheen Lane Day Centre, 74 Sheen Lane, Richmond SW14 8LP. Support workers from Crossroads Care and Alzheimer's Society are around to provide guidance and information. Men Who Care Project

A monthly support group for men caring for a partner, wife, mother or child. A male-focused social group which provides friendship, specialist support and activities on a monthly basis. Care/respite available for the person for whom they care. Carers Fit Club - weekly, commencing 21st August

Fit club offers carers an opportunity to exercise at their own pace and ability. It offers carers a chance to take some exercise in a supportive environment with other carers, working on developing strength, cardiovascular health and flexibility…and with a cup of tea at the end of the session. Prior to attending, you will be assessed by a team member. £10 per session.

Richmond Borough Mind offers a range of specialist services to families and 
friends supporting someone with mental health difficulties. The demands of supporting someone can impact on your own wellbeing so it can be helpful to get support from people who understand your role and can offer professional advice and guidance. Coping with Caring – five weekly workshops from October 2019
Begins on 6th March for five weeks. Reflect on your caring role and the skills that you use. Workshops will help carers navigate the mental health maze, improve communication skills and manage challenging behaviour.

1-1 counselling

Short, medium and long-term counselling for carers caring for someone with a drug/alcohol addiction or other addiction such as gambling, eating disorders, prescribed or over-the-counter drugs, pornography, internet, etc. Also supporting carers of people with mental health conditions such as depression, stress, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, schizophrenia, as well as bereavement/loss issues.
