As a carer volunteering can offer you many opportunities if you feel you have the time to offer, and it can also be a way of sharing your own skills, knowledge and life experience. If you are taking a break from work, it can be a very useful way to keep your work skills fresh and maintain your confidence in a working environment. Keeping your personal CV up to date with any volunteering roles you take up can be helpful when apply for employment in the future. You will also find that some volunteer roles can offer you time away from your caring role, giving you the opportunity to develope your own intrests and effectively provide you with time off from thinking about caring.
